Libas Legacy provides men’s tailoring in Dubai from its Business Bay studio, making shirts, trousers, suits, jackets and other tailored menswear around each client’s measurements, proportions and the way he actually dresses. Founded in 1992 by MD. Azad and now run by his son, we have spent more than three decades fitting men for work, formal occasions and everyday wear. Visit the studio, or have a tailor come to your home or office anywhere in Dubai.

Good men’s tailoring starts with your week, not with a catalogue. Before anything is measured, we ask how you spend your time: how many days you wear formal clothes, whether you travel, how long you sit at a desk or in a car, and how often you move between outdoor heat and air-conditioned rooms.
Those answers change the brief. A man in client meetings five days a week needs shirts that survive repeated laundering and trousers that stay comfortable through long seated days. Someone who dresses formally twice a month can prioritise texture or colour over durability. A frequent traveller needs cloth that recovers from creasing after a flight. The garments may look similar on a hanger, but they are built for very different lives.
Your routine | What it changes in your tailoring |
Office five days a week | Durable, easy-care shirting; trousers cut for comfort when seated; versatile colours that combine easily |
Client-facing role | Sharper fit through shoulders and collar; cloth that holds its shape through the day |
Frequent travel | Crease-recovering fabrics; trousers with enough ease for long journeys |
Outdoor and indoor movement | Breathable shirts against the body; jackets that keep structure without extra weight |
Occasional formal events | Richer cloths and details, since frequency of wear is low |
Most men do not need one garment. They need a set of clothes that works together, and it helps when one tailor understands the whole picture. At Libas Legacy the same studio can make every tailored piece in your wardrobe, so what we learn fitting your shirt informs your trousers and jacket too.
Shirts. A shirt is the garment you wear most and the one closest to the body. Collar, shoulder, chest and sleeve decide both how it sits on its own and how it behaves under a jacket, which is why shirts tailored for your proportions are worth planning as part of the wider wardrobe rather than in isolation.
Trousers. Not every pair of trousers needs to belong to a suit. Separately tailored trousers can be cut around your preferred rise, seat, taper and level of formality, then paired with shirts and jackets you already own.
Suits. When the jacket and trousers must be developed together as one outfit, individually tailored suits bring upper and lower body proportions into a single commission, cut from a pattern drafted for you.
Jackets and waistcoats. A separate jacket extends what your trousers can do, from office wear to smart evenings. A waistcoat adds a layer whose length has to meet the trouser rise cleanly.
Safari suits. For a less conventional tailored garment, safari-style tailoring puts function first, with fabric, pockets and freedom of movement playing a larger role in the design.
Your body stays the same from one garment to the next, but each garment uses it differently. That is why a good men’s tailor does not simply copy one set of numbers across your wardrobe.
Garment | What matters most | Why it is different |
Shirt | Collar, shoulder, chest, waist, sleeve length | Worn next to the skin; needs ease for movement under a jacket without billowing when worn alone |
Trousers | Waist, rise, seat, thigh, taper, length | Carries the body when seated and walking; rise decides where they sit and how they feel all day |
Jacket | Shoulder slope, posture, chest, balance, length, sleeve | An outer layer; posture and stance decide whether it hangs level front to back |
Waistcoat | Length, chest, waist | Must cover the trouser waistband and sit smoothly under the jacket |
The shoulder is a good example. A shirt shoulder needs to follow your frame and allow your arms to move. A jacket shoulder also has to carry the weight of the cloth and account for any difference between your left and right side, because most men carry one shoulder slightly lower. Same measurement, different job.
Body shape matters as much as size. Athletic clients with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, men with a forward posture, or anyone whose proportions fall between standard sizes are exactly the clients tailoring serves best, because each garment is cut for the body in front of us.
Garments are measured separately but should never be designed in isolation. Four relationships decide whether an outfit looks put together or just matching:
Relationship | What goes wrong if it is ignored |
Shirt collar and jacket collar | The shirt collar disappears behind the jacket or gaps away from it |
Shirt cuff and jacket sleeve | No cuff shows, or too much, and the sleeve looks the wrong length |
Jacket length and trouser rise | Low trousers under a long jacket make the legs look shorter |
Trouser line and overall silhouette | A slim jacket over full trousers, or the reverse, splits the outfit in two |
Because Libas Legacy makes all of these pieces, we set them against each other. When you order a jacket, we consider the shirts you will wear under it. When you add trousers, we look at the jackets they need to partner. Colour works the same way: choosing a few cloths that combine easily lets a small tailored wardrobe cover far more occasions.
Dubai asks different things of each layer you wear. A cloth that works well for an office shirt may lack the structure a jacket needs or the durability expected from trousers worn every week. So we choose fabric by garment, not by look alone.
Garment | What the fabric must do in Dubai | What we usually consider |
Shirt | Breathe against the skin, stay opaque, survive frequent washing | Cotton weaves chosen for airflow and opacity; linen for relaxed wear |
Trousers | Stay comfortable seated, resist wear, recover from creasing | Lightweight wools and cotton blends for daily office use |
Jacket | Hold its shape without heat or weight | Lightweight, open-weave wools; linen for informal jackets |
Formal wear | Look rich in evening light and air-conditioned rooms | Finer wools and silk blends |
Our luxury collection of fabrics for tailored menswear lets you compare cloth by garment type, weight and use. For more on how materials behave in local conditions, see our guide to how different fabrics perform in Dubai. If you already own a cloth, bring it; clients who supply their own fabric can read how that changes the price in our guide to tailoring and stitching costs in Dubai.
We talk about your routine, the garments you need, your style and any deadline. You can commission a single piece or plan several at once.
Your tailor measures for each garment you are ordering and notes posture, shoulder slope and stance. Several garments can be measured in one appointment, at the studio or at your home or office.
You choose cloth and details for each piece, with advice on how the garments will combine.
Each garment is cut for you and made in our workshop, with hand finishing where it affects how the garment wears.
You try your garments on before they are finished. Suits and jackets receive a trial fitting; shirts and trousers are checked for fit and comfort.
Adjustments are made, the garments are checked and pressed, and you collect them or arrange delivery.
Your measurements and fit notes are kept on file for each garment type. When you come back, we start from what we already know, confirm whether anything has changed and move straight to fabric and design. Repeat shirt orders often need no fitting at all once the first shirt is right.
Work. Men who wear tailoring several days a week put greater weight on durable cloth, crease recovery and garments that combine easily. Those needs are covered more deeply in our tailoring for a professional wardrobe service.
Formal events. The right garment depends on the level of formality. A business dinner, a black-tie invitation and an ordinary office day do not call for the same clothing, so understanding how men’s dress codes differ helps decide whether you need a suit, a separate jacket or eveningwear.
Weddings. A wedding changes the brief because clothing must also suit the venue, dress code, photographs and date. Those decisions belong within our men’s wedding tailoring service.
We deal with Both New Garments or Alterations for Gents
Not every fit problem needs a new garment. If you already own shirts, trousers or jackets that need changes to sleeve length, waist, seat or hem, that is a different job from commissioning something new. Fit corrections for existing clothing are handled in the same Business Bay studio, so you can bring new commissions and alterations to one place.
You need | The right service |
A garment that fits from the start, in your chosen cloth | New men’s tailoring |
Shoulders or balance that are fundamentally wrong on an existing garment | Usually a new garment, since these are hardest to alter |
Shorter sleeves, adjusted waist or new hem on something you own | Alteration |
Garment | Typical price | Typical time | Fittings |
Custom shirt | From AED 250 | 7 to 10 days | One, on the first shirt |
Tailored trousers | From AED 350 | 7 to 10 days | One |
Jacket or blazer | From AED 1,000 | 2 to 3 weeks | Usually two |
Waistcoat | From AED 400 | 7 to 10 days | One |
Bespoke suit | AED 1,500 to 2,000 | 2 to 3 weeks | Usually two |
Safari suit | Quoted at consultation | 2 to 3 weeks | One or two |
Prices depend mainly on the cloth you choose and the details of each garment, and supplying your own fabric lowers them. Ordering several shirts or pieces together usually shortens the overall process, because they are measured and fitted in the same visits. Your quotation and delivery dates are confirmed before any cloth is cut. If you have an event or travel date, tell us first and we will plan around it.
When comparing men’s tailors, look beyond the list of garments offered. Ask how each tailor handles the things that decide whether clothes fit well over time. Here is how we answer those questions.

What do clients say? | Rated 4.9 from 140+ client reviews |
Libas Legacy was founded in Dubai in 1992 by MD. Azad, whose approach still guides the studio: listen first, cut for the person, and finish the inside of a garment as carefully as the outside. The business is now led by his son, who continues that practice in the second generation.
More than three decades in one city means our tailors have fitted men of every build, profession and background in Dubai’s particular climate. A dropped shoulder, a forward stance, a shirt that needs to survive a summer commute: these are problems we have solved many times before.

Some measurements are shared, but each garment uses them differently. A shirt needs ease for movement beneath a jacket, trousers depend on rise and seat, and a jacket adds posture and balance. Your tailor measures and interprets each garment separately.
Yes. Several garments can be measured and discussed in one appointment at the studio or at your home or office.
Yes. Many clients begin with a single garment to see the fit before building a larger order, and your fit notes carry forward to the next piece.
Yes. You do not need to order everything at once. Start with what you need most, whether shirts for work or a suit for an event, and add pieces over time.
Yes. An existing shirt, pair of trousers or jacket helps show the fit and style you prefer. We use it as a reference and still cut the new garment for your body.
Tell us at your next visit. Small changes can often be handled through alterations, while larger changes need new measurements. Your tailor will advise what makes sense for each garment.
Yes. Your measurements and fit notes are kept on file for each type of garment, so reordering shirts or adding trousers later does not mean starting over. If your weight or shape has changed, we simply re-measure.
